The southernmost town of the well-known Thermen-land Styria was already mentioned in 1299 in historical documents. Medieval Radkersburg was enclosed by a curtain wall and a moat. An essential part of this fortification was the defence towers of which four remain more or less intact today. The town’s diverse history is impressively presented in the Stadtmuseum. Not only the museum, but also the superbly restored façades of the houses and the typical arcaded courtyards are impressive witnesses of history.

The once significant commercial town Bad Radkersburg has today again gained great importance as the pivot at the centre of Europe due to its proximity to the new EU member states. To its visitors, the town offers the colourful ambiance of a historical yet modern town, with its plentiful small handicraft businesses, shops and boutiques, with its cafés, inns and numerous squares bustling with life.
